We are seeking a dynamic Software Tester with a demonstrated record of success in dynamic, high-impact environments to join our team. The Software Tester will support the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Personnel & Readiness (OSD P&R) in enhancing the Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS), a critical platform used across all P&R offices. DRRS enables military units to input essential data regarding individual service members, their training status, medical readiness, deployment history, and overall operational preparedness. As a Software Tester, you will play a key role in ensuring the system functions reliably and accurately, helping to maintain the integrity of readiness data that informs strategic decision-making at the highest levels of defense. Your work will directly contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of military readiness reporting, ensuring the system meets the rigorous standards required for national security operations.
This position will be a Hybrid role with the on-site location being the Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. Candidates are required to live within a commutable distance to the on-site location.
This position is contingent on government stakeholder approval.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and strategies, including functional, system, integration, and regression testing
Write, execute, and maintain test cases and automated scripts to identify software defects and validate fixes
Identify, document, and track software defects using issue tracking tools
Collaborate with software developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure testing aligns with business requirements
Utilize appropriate testing tools and stay updated on best practices and industry standards
Perform environment integration testing, ensuring all functionalities work as expected across development, staging, and production environments
Support software development and integration efforts while adhering to government testing guidelines and security protocols
Maintain documentation of test cases, test results, defect reports, and system validations
Participate in release planning and provide input on quality assurance best practices
Stay current with emerging testing tools, methodologies, and industry best practices

Requirements
Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS is required, TS or higher preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or an additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
Junior Level: 2+ years of experience
Mid-Level: 5+ years of experience
Active Security+ certification or comparable to comply with DoD Cyber Workforce requirements
Experience with software testing methodologies, including manual and automated testing
Proficiency in using testing tools such as Selenium, JIRA, HP ALM, or similar
Strong understanding of various software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall
Ability to design and execute functional, integration, system, and regression test cases
Familiarity with test automation frameworks and ability to implement automated tests
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving software issues
Experience with version control tools such as Git
Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting test results and collaborating with team members
Ability to work independently while also collaborating with cross-functional teams
Understanding of quality assurance methodologies and industry best practices
Desired Skills
Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript for test automation
Experience in security and usability testing
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices
