About the role
The Sr Director, Ops in Projects will be responsible for the optimization and operational readiness of new renewable natural gas (RNG) plants at Archaea. This role will be responsible for leading a functional team of Process and Mechanical Engineers dedicated to early plant runtime and defect elimination. In addition they will engage both internal and external resources to deliver key updates to programs related to Integrity Management, Operating Procedures, and Quality Assurance. This role requires strong technical expertise in gas processing, leadership capabilities to manage an engineering team, a deep understanding of project deliverables, and the ability to drive process improvements within a fast-paced environment. The role will act as a key integrator between Projects and Operations.
Key accountabilities
Provides leadership, mentoring, and management of a team of discipline Engineers
Lead a “Startup/Stay-Up Squad” dedicated to achieving early life plant KPI’s related to runtime and recovery
Identify and classify defects and vulnerabilities in plant design
Drive solutions to eliminate defects and vulnerabilities in new plants
Document all plant modifications and upgrades through the MOC process
Coordinate with 3rd-party engineering companies for engineering deliverables that are not internally generated
Lead communication of issues back to the design team responsible for plant standardization
Provide engineering review of operating, maintenance, commissioning, and start-up procedures
Develop a fit for purpose Integrity Management Plan for new RNG plants
Provide input into Commissioning deliverables to ensure all systems have been tested appropriately prior to startup and handover to Operations
Lead the development of QA/QC standards for equipment in storage prior to deploying to Projects
Act as a resource for training new Operators in the design and operation of Archaea’s Modular Design RNG plants
Work collaboratively across many teams to ensure smooth plant startup and operation including Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Operations
Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize engineering initiatives and allocate resources effectively
Essential education
Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline
Essential experience
More than 8 years experience with natural gas processing
Proven track record leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team
Substantial experience and technical understanding of engineering, maintenance, and operation of gas processing equipment
Understanding of ASME, API, AISC, OSHA, AGA & ASTM standards
Experience with process simulation
Experience with operating procedures
Experience in mechanical integrity
Experience in root cause failure analysis
Proven track record in practical application of engineering standards and practices for operating facilities
Willing to travel domestically
Desirable criteria
Professional Engineering (PE) license
Experience with Renewable Natural Gas facilities

How much do we pay? $126,700-181,000. *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 240 hours of vacation per year for full times employees (60 – 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
