Job Description
This position is a 2nd Year Program Associate role with the Mergers & Acquisitions group in San Francisco. In this role you will support transaction execution across a variety of verticals in the technology space.
Investment Banking Associates are an integral part of the Investment Banking team. They are directly involved in the origination, structuring and execution of investment banking products and services for existing and prospective clients. Associates participate in client meetings, due diligence visits and other client interactions during which they gain exposure to key executives and senior bankers. The Associate provides these services as part of a team consisting of Analysts, Vice Presidents, Directors, and Managing Directors.
In this role, you will:
Participate in analyzing companies, develop strategies for clients, pulling market and industry research across the M&A product suite which includes buysides, sellsides, special committee assignments and activism and defense
Review strategies for clients, build detailed and complex financial models, analyze market data, and prepare client presentations
Receive direction from a manager and exercise independent judgment while developing an understanding of compliance and risk management requirements for Investment Banking
Manage the various product workstreams and coordination with coverage banking partners
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Interact with internal and external customers
Develop and train Investment Banking Analysts in M&A valuation and processes
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of Investment Banking Program experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Undergraduate degree from a four-year accredited college or university and/or experience in mergers & acquisitions analysis
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience in investment banking mergers & acquisitions, private equity or other financial services sector with a focus on technology companies
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
Strong financial modeling skills
Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment and manage junior bankers
Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Willingness to work long hours in a demanding, highly focused and collaborative team environment with a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results
Experience training and mentoring junior talent
