About the position

The position is responsible for providing biosolids subject matter expertise (SME) to WM Industrial Sales and Public Sector Sales managers. The individual will manage the development and execution of business plans that align with corporate strategic goals, while also building key customer prospects and relationships. This role is crucial for prospecting and closing sales to achieve revenue growth targets and drive internal value within the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with WM’s internal teams to cultivate existing accounts and identify new customer opportunities. In this role, the individual will identify local market dynamics and implement effective countermeasures to address competitive campaigns, pricing challenges, and changes in regulatory drivers. A deep understanding of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) customer segment and the market dynamics that influence customer decisions in each target area is essential. The position requires the development of productive relationships with key WWTP staff and managing the research and analysis of business opportunities, assessing potential markets, and developing projects for new marketing initiatives. The candidate will communicate competitive and market information to business development teams to assist in strategic planning. They will maintain strict adherence to the management and control of confidential information and provide monthly sales reports and expenses in a timely manner. Participation in sales meetings and training classes is expected, along with the performance of special projects and other tasks as assigned by the Organics Director of Biosolids Business Development. The role also involves tracking and documenting WWTP market information, including volume, pricing, current contract terms, and bid and RFP activity and results. Collaboration with WM’s Area Sales teams to develop professional responses to municipal bid and RFP opportunities is a key responsibility, as is working with WM legal to negotiate commercial services agreements with biosolids customers.

? Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

? Provide monthly sales reports and expenses.

? Perform special projects and tasks assigned by the Organics Director.

Requirements
? Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) or High School Diploma/GED with four years of relevant experience.

? 5 years of work experience in a science or technical background required.

? Experience with WWTPs is a plus.
