About the position

The Supervisor of the Butcher Block is responsible for directing and controlling the operations of the Butcher Block department within the store. This role involves supervising and training personnel to ensure high standards of customer service, product quality, freshness, safety, and selection. The Supervisor will champion the company’s customer service programs, aiming to meet or exceed the Division’s customer service goals. They will handle customer relations positively, effectively resolving complaints and reporting issues to the Meat Manager or Store Director as necessary. The Supervisor will promote the philosophy of personalized service that Albertson’s stands for. In addition to customer service, the Supervisor will manage the ordering, receiving, and breaking down of products. They will stock, display, and rotate meat, poultry, and seafood products to ensure quality and freshness while maintaining an appealing presentation. The role includes processing fresh fish and seafood, creating effective displays, preparing seafood salads, cooking samples, and supervising the daily functions of the butcher block to achieve sales and profit objectives. The Supervisor will conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with product quality standards, sanitation, safety, and security requirements. The Supervisor will also be responsible for monitoring associate performance, scheduling personnel, and recommending personnel actions such as hiring, firing, and disciplinary measures. They will maintain accurate records, complete necessary paperwork, and ensure that all associates are trained in their duties. The role requires a strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and labeling laws, as well as the ability to manage inventory effectively to prevent the sale of out-of-code products. The Supervisor will also assist with customer service tasks, including taking special orders and making product suggestions, while ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in the work area.

Responsibilities

? Prepare seafood salads and other seasoned products.

? Cook samples and steam clams and lobsters.

? Monitor associate performance and recommend personnel actions.

? Schedule personnel to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.

? Conduct daily inspections of the butcher block for compliance with standards.

? Assist with all butcher block duties such as receiving, storing, and cleaning.

? Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
,
? Control shrink and expenses in the butcher block.
,
? Complete and monitor daily log sheets and required paperwork.
,
? Maintain records on ad items movement and inventory levels.
,
? Ensure proper merchandising of products and compliance with labeling laws.

? Assist customers with special orders and product suggestions.

? Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the sales floor and work area.

Requirements
? Working knowledge of all job duties within the Butcher Block including cutting, wrapping, steaming, and customer service.

? Strong communication skills and good leadership abilities.

? Proven ability to manage people and maintain composure in customer interactions.

? Knowledge of employment laws and workplace practices.

? Understanding of company practices and Butcher Block policies and procedures.

? Ability to judge and react to business activity.

? Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to approximately 55 lbs.

? Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional climbing of ladders.

? Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination for operating cutting utensils and equipment.

? Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
