Medical Coder
Summary of Position
Seeking a self motivated and detail oriented individual with excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Coding experience with ICD-9-CM, ICD-10 and CPT.
Job Duties:
Provide effective communication (written, verbal, non-verbal, and electronic) to clients and colleagues
Supports performance improvement by assisting with audits and quality control tasks
Communicates any concerns regarding coding, documentation, section issues and/or department issues
Shares information, resources, and ideas. Contributes ideas and suggestions to continuously improve processes, procedures, methods and productivity.
Must demonstrate the ability to assign principal and secondary diagnoses, procedures and E&M codes
Coders must maintain productivity & quality standards.
Qualifications:
Extremely organized
Attention to detail is a must
At least 2 years of medical record practices and procedures, or successfully completed Medical Terminology
Medical Record Technology, Anatomy, Medical Billing or Coding courses are preferred
Inpatient & Outpatient Surgery coding experience preferred
Must type at least 40 WPM
Must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel
CPC or CPC-A Credential
3+ years of Coding experience preferred
Experience with One Content, Paragon and 3M desired
